The Isle of Skye located off the west coast of northern Scotland is world famous for its stunning scenery, unique light, wildlife and history. However, few are aware of the events that occurred in Skye between 1800 and 1860, when the religious, social and educational face of the Island was transformed as a result of spiritual awakening.
On this site you will discover the power of spiritual awakening as seen in the lives of ordinary people. We also find stories of love, commitment and self-sacrifice as well as heartbreaking evidence of violence, cruelty, and enforced emigration.
What drove these people to walk for miles through wind and rain, even fording raging rivers to share in worship and hear the preaching of the gospel? Not a dead religion for sure! On the contrary these were people who had experienced the passionate love of God - a love which had overwhelmed and captured their hearts!
The material on this site ( 28 Chapters) is the culmination of 7 years research. It includes eyewitness accounts of the power and speed with which the Spirit of God swept through the communities of Skye and its sister islands and, as a result of emigration, parts of Canada and North America.
Never before have all the facts and circumstances surrounding these events been brought together in order to present a cohesive, objective presentation.
On this site you will also find photographs and drawings of many of the characters involved as well as period landscape drawings and many photographs relating to places and events in Skye and Canada.
The full text of this project is available free on this site. However you can also purchase "The Skye Revivals" book in the site shop. This book is an abridgement of the material found here.
